In reply to Andrea. The algorithm changes frequently, but high DA websites typically own the top spots even on low competition keywords. These websites will rank even if they never targeted that keyword because Google gives them preference. However, if you hyper-focus on ranking for that keyword with good on-site optimization, you'll often find yourself outranking even the high DA sites because they're not focused on that niche keyword.

Thanks for a great post. I keep finding keywords with low difficulty like 22, which should be easy. However, my keyword tool also shows domain authority for the average webpage ranking for the term. Over and over these “low difficulty” terms say, “the average webpage ranking in the top 10 for this keyword has 1,700+ backlinks and 70+ domain authority”. This sounds high, and would explain why none of my “easy” keywords are ranking.

Any advice?

Most of our posts are from 2018 and although they drew traffic then they are getting NO traffic now so thinking we could delete and republish as the content is still fresh….or maybe we reference the post and update it…
